Who is Puddlejumper Design? Puddlejumper Design is Kate Crossman, a one-woman website building dynamo. I have a traditional background in Art History and Graphic Design with an advanced degree in Media Arts.
How do I start? If you are ready to get started on building your new site, or redesigning an existing one, the first thing to do is contact me, so we can go over the kind of site you want. How many pages do you need, who is your audience, what is your message, do you need custom graphic design work, etc.
Once the details are ironed out, I will give you a proposal for the work with an estimate of cost for the build.
How long will it take? The length of time, generally depends on how much work is involved and how much information you provide me with in the beginning. If you have any elements you want included on the site such as photos, text, logos, etc. the faster you get them to me, the faster I can complete the site.
The longest part of a build, is often in the very beginning when I design the overall layout. Because I do not use or work with templates, the site I design for you is a custom creation and generally that takes a little more time. As a general rule I will provide at least two different layouts for you to review.
Once the design is accepted by you and I have all the elements you want to include, the build tends to move quickly. How much will it cost? I know you would really like a concrete answer here, but since every site is custom built it is impossible to say how much one will cost without knowing more details.
Each site requires a different amount of work, whether it is creating graphics from scratch or resizing photos or adding some jazzy javascript to the code. I can say that in general, most sites I build fall within a range of $ 950 - $ 1,800. What if I don’t live near you? Welcome to the beauty of the Internet my friend.
